Get Ready for Tech Grind 2018!

It’s time to start lacing up the trail runners and getting into trail shape…the Tech Grind 2018 is coming up soon, and IT/IQ is involved once again! This third annual event takes place at the end of September, and teams from Vancouver’s tech community compete for the quickest time up the infamous Grouse Grind. This fundraiser is not only a physical challenge, it’s also a fantastic opportunity to raise funds to support kids in our community.

This year IT/IQ is aiming to take the titles for both speed and for fundraising efforts, having set a target for of $10,000 for ourselves. 100% of these funds are directed to local (Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley) causes, geared at laying the foundation for kids to achieve lifelong success. 20% of BC’s children live in poverty, and over 25,000 kids don’t have a safe place to go after school. Our contributions will help fund after-school programs, outreach initiatives to connect with at-risk kids, and programs to help Aboriginal, refugee, and special needs kids to thrive.

If this sounds like something you’d like to support, there are three ways you can help out:

1) We’re going to need all the help we can get to hit our $10,000 goal, so please help us out! Any donation amount will be a big help.

2) IT/IQ will be fielding two teams this year; one for IT/IQ staffers, and a second team of IT/IQ consultants, candidates and partners. If you are interested, we’d love to have you join us (space is limited, so please let us know right away). All team members will be provided with a great looking technical jersey and a swanky stainless-steel water bottle to help you on your way!

3) If you work in an IT team (and if you’re seeing this you probably are), you can start your own team and show us how it’s done! Siân Madoc Jones is the Campaign Manager, and she is more than happy to help you register your team. She can be reached directly at sianm@uwlm.ca.

However you choose to help, your contributions are greatly appreciated by us, the United Way, and the thousands of kids that will directly benefit from the programs.

Good luck, and Grind on!
