This past weekend IT/IQ had the chance to participate in Ritchie Bros. annual Corporate Kids Challenge. Ritchie Bros. partners with KidSport every year to put on the Corporate Kids Challenge, with all proceeds going towards making sure all kids get to play sports.
Not only do different Ritchie Bros. vendors participate, but each company is paired with a professional athlete to help them compete in the different sports challenges throughout the day. IT/IQ was lucky enough to be paired with Emma Entzminger, who will be competing on the Canadian Softball Team at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo! Although there were no softball challenges, Emma was an all-star at just about every other sport.
There is about ten challenges that each team competes in, including a lip sync challenge, a rock-climbing wall, and an archery challenge (among other things). This year’s theme was Fear the Walking Kids so each challenge had some kind of zombie component to it. Throwing brains into basketball hoops is really fun.
IT/IQ had a relatively good year, winning all but two of the challenges it faced. Next year we need to work on our jump shot and wheelchair basketball.
After all the challenges were finished, each team got a lovely catered meal, provided by the Hilton Metrotown Vancouver, as well as the chance to bid on numerous excursions, items of clothing, and gift certificates at the silent auction.
All-in-all, IT/IQ relished the opportunity to cover ourselves with fake blood, complete the challenges as though we were evading the zombie plague, and lip-sync Tequila by The Champs.

Thank you to Ritchie Bros. and KidSport for putting on such a consistently excellent event every year! We will always look forward to coming out and participating for a good cause. Looking forward to seeing what next year’s theme will be!
