2019: Year in Review

2019 was a groundbreaking year. We opened two new offices in Calgary and Toronto; we welcomed new team members in Vancouver, Toronto and Calgary; and we celebrated these successes with excellent events throughout the year.

Spring

In the first quarter of 2019, the President’s Club winners celebrated the past year’s successes in Mexico on an all expenses paid trip.

The first edition of the Pulse was released, providing insight to our clients and consultants alike.

At the end of the quarter, the team celebrated by renting a party bus and going out to Laser Tag in Richmond, followed by drinks downtown.

Summer

The second quarter was a busy one. We officially opened our offices in Calgary and Toronto! Team members in the Toronto and Calgary offices were flown into Vancouver to meet the rest of the team and be trained in IT/IQ’s methods of recruitment and sales.

We celebrated our local tech community by sponsoring the BC CTO Awards, hosted by Business in Vancouver. IT/IQ’s President, Feras Elkhalil, presented the award for CIO of the Year, to Barry Rivelis, CIO at Pacific Blue Cross.

At the end of the second quarter, we celebrated at our annual company trip to Whistler. This year, instead of Volleyball, we went axe throwing at Forged Axe in Whistler’s Creekside! After axe throwing, we celebrated at the pool, followed by dinner and dancing at Garfunkel’s.

Fall

In the third quarter, IT/IQ partnered with the United Way of the Lower Mainland to help put on the fourth annual Tech Grind. The Tech Grind is a competition between tech companies to raise money for the United Way of the Lower Mainland, by racing up the Grouse Grind. This year 9 team members participated from IT/IQ, and we raised $4000!

IT/IQ also participated in the Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers Corporate Kids Challenge. The Corporate Kids Challenge is an all-day sports’ day event, with all proceeds going towards KidSport. IT/IQ raised $5000 and fielded a team of 7 recruiters and salespeople. The team had to rip up their shirts and apply fake blood, to fit in with the zombie theme.

At the end of the third quarter, we celebrated by renting out a theatre at Cineplex’s Fifth Avenue Cinemas location. The team enjoyed drinks and a popcorn buffet, while watching a classic sales movie: Jerry Maguire.

Winter

To end 2019, IT/IQ celebrated with our consultants and internal team, and celebrated the spirit of giving. For the 9th straight year, IT/IQ joined the YWCA Presents of Peace Program. The Presents of Peace Program helps families living in halfway homes, by sponsoring and giving them all the gifts on their holiday lists, as well as grocery gift cards. This year, IT/IQ sponsored four families and raised just under $3000.

For the fifth year in a row, we hosted our Consultant Holiday Party. It was our second year hosting it outside of IT/IQ, at Rogue Kitchen and Wetbar. The night was for celebrating all the successes of our consultants from 2019, and look to 2020 for more exciting opportunities. Rogue puts on an excellent party, with tasty food and lots of great drinks. Another hit at the party was the photobooth.

Our own holiday party was hosted at Lift Bar and Grill on the Sea Wall in Coal Harbour.

In 2020, IT/IQ is excited to further expand its market presence in Alberta and Ontario markets, and improve on its record in Vancouver. We’re grateful to be working with the best clients and consultants.
